George Bish’s interest in technology stems from his early involvement with computer science class and the A/V club in high school. He continued this journey in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Technician, and transitioned to a bench repair then installations in the A/V industry. George’s introduction to the world of security and life safety came when he was working as a Nurse Call system designer and installer. After learning that they needed a way to ensure that residents did not exit the building George designed an access control system using Radio Shark parts. It was so successful that the owner began selling the system. He later took a position with Rollins Protective Services in 1989 where he officially embarked on his Life Safety journey.

Since then George has held positions with Brinks Home Security, Entergy Security, ADT, The System Depot, SWS LLC, and MasTec AT. He has his NICET Level IV in Fire Alarm Systems and is a Senior Instructor with ESA’s National Training School. George is now the Director, Codes & Standard Compliance for Ring Protect Inc (an Amazon Company) providing strategic direction to ensure that the company is compliant with all regulatory requirements related to Security & Life Safety.

George has dedicated his career to promoting the advancement of the Security, Fire, and Life Safety industry. He began working at the state level with NCBFAA and progressed to the National Level serving on NFPA 70, 72, and 730/731 as well as various ESA, TMA, and SIA committees. George has received many industry awards for his stewardship, but the two he is most proud of are the Sara E. Jackson Memorial Award by ESA in 2015 and the SBCA President’s Award in 2016.
